The NBC Peacock Has No Place In Viet Nam

In this month’s blog post, curator Jim Liversidge puts together the story behind one of the hundreds of artifacts in UF’s Bob Hope Collection: a puzzle given to Hope by a college student called to serve in the Vietnam War.

The Bob Hope Collection contains hundreds of artifacts – props, trophies and dolls, even food – collected by Hope over the nearly six decades that he was performing and touring. Combined with the photographs, documents and ephemera in the collection, these artifacts and depth and dimension to the study of American popular culture and one of its central figures.
