The following collections in the Special and Area Studies Department have been recently processed, expanded or revised at the University of Florida.

Cordel Literature Collection, 1930-2018

A collection of “cordel literature”, popular and inexpensively printed booklets or pamphlets containing folk novels, poems and songs, produced and sold in street markets and by street vendors in Brazil, mainly in the Northeast.

R. Terry Schnadelbach Papers, 1959-2004

Design project files, personal and professional papers, photos, drawings, renderings, plans, and project presentation boards belonging to Landscape architect Raymond Terry Schnadelbach.

Robert S. Blount Collection on Turpentine, 1976-2003 (Bulk: 1985-1992)

Materials representing the work of Robert S. Blount as a UF student, photographer, and exhibits designer/interpreter for the Florida Museum of Natural History, as well as professional work with the Florida Agriculture Museum and other museums. The primary focus of this material is on the turpentine industry.

H. H. Luetjen Papers, 1933-2001 (Bulk: 1960-1962)

Photographs, artwork, commemoratives, and other materials related to H. H. Luetjen’s work on the Mercury and Gemini space programs for McDonnell Douglas and NASA as well as historical collecting interests.

Alachua County Abstract Company Records, 1974-2000 (significantly expanded and newly revised finding aid)

Business records of the company. Includes correspondence, tax bills, receipts, records, deeds, and notices concerning lands in Alachua County. Additionally, contains land abstracts for town and city and land grants located in Alachua County.

State University System Libraries and Council for State University Libraries Records, 1996-2013

Collection contains meeting information, minutes, and reports from the State University System Libraries and Council for State University Libraries in Florida.

University of Florida Faculty Senate Records, 1932-2014 (significantly expanded and newly revised finding aid)

Agendas and minutes of the University of Florida faculty senate meetings.

University of Florida Office of Sustainability Records, 1997-2006

Collection contains minutes, correspondence, and reports from the University of Florida’s Office of Sustainability.

Ralph Della Cava Papers, 1780-2011 (Bulk: 1880-1960)

The Ralph Della Cava Papers collection is an extensive and comprehensive collection consisting of Ralph Della Cava’s research on Brazilian priest Padre Cícero Romão Batista, the social, religious and political history of Juazeiro do Norte, and issues pertaining to the Catholic church in Latin America. The collection contains materials gathered over a period of forty years, including primary resources, late 19th-century and early 20th-century archival and printed materials, research documents, essays, photographs, microfilms, ephemera, correspondence and audiovisual materials.

Latinx Collection, 1969-1975

The Latinx Collection contains documents, booklets, pamphlets, flyers, newspapers and magazines pertaining to the life, culture, social experience, political issues, and civil rights issues of Latin Americans and Latin American diaspora, living in the United States.

Rafael Pedemonte Collection of Oral Histories, 2007-2024

This collection contains interviews with people who have been historically linked to Cuba who lived through the Cuban Revolution, detailing their experiences during and after the Revolution, and their lives living abroad in countries like the United States, Chile, France, and Russia.

Paul A. Hughes Collection of Caribbean Stereographs, 1895-1940 (significantly expanded and newly revised finding aid)

The collection consists of stereograph images showcasing scenes and views of the Greater and Lesser Antilles in the Caribbean Sea. Also featured prominently are stereographs images from the Spanish American War.
