The following collections in the Special and Area Studies Department have been recently processed, expanded or revised at the University of Florida.

Administrative Policy Records of the University of Florida Vice President for Student Affairs, 1925-2003 (significantly expanded and newly revised finding aid)

Records of the University of Florida Vice President for Student Affairs and its predecessors, the Dean of Students and the Dean for Student Affairs. The series documents a wide range of student matters including campus politics, fraternities, housing, and disciplinary issues.

University of Florida Office of Student Activities and Involvement Records, 1939-2016

The collection contains various documents related to Caribbean Island countries (Excluding Cuba and Haiti which have their own separate collections). The collections are comprised of a variety of materials highlighting the history, culture, and study of Caribbean Island countries. These materials have been acquired from various sources over a period of many years, and are grouped together because each acquisition consists of a small number of items (e.g., a single letter, manuscript, or photograph album).

Phi Alpha Theta, Gamma Eta Chapter Records, 1950-2021

Collection contains meeting minutes, membership cards, advisor information, informational flyers and brochures, newsletters, membership lists, correspondence, photographs, and other administrative records from the University of Florida’s Gamma Eta chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the history honors fraternity.

Robert L. Neal Papers, 1958-1979

The collection includes Robert L. Neal’s landscape designs from the 1950s to the 1970s for Lake Worth, Palm Beach, West Palm Beach, and South Florida.

University of Florida Commencement Ceremony Video Recordings, 1999-2012

Collection contains video and audio recordings of University of Florida Commencement ceremonies. Recordings are on Betacam, VHS, and DVD; audio recordings are on audio cassette.

Robert McDonald Papers, 1968-1995

Architectural drawings created by Architect Robert McDonald for various projects from 1968 to 1995. The majority of the projects are in Ft. Lauderdale and the Broward County region.

American Civil Liberties Union of Florida Records, 1955-2017 (significantly expanded and newly revised finding aid)

Correspondence, subjects files, newsletters, and other records from the Florida Chapter of the American Civil Liberties Union.

United Nations Association of the United States of America – Gainesville Chapter Records, 1961-2021

Meeting minutes, newsletters, treasurer reports, photographs, awards, and other records produced by the Gainesville, Florida Chapter of the United Nations Association of the United States of America.

John Howey Papers, 1964-2000

Architectural designs by John Howey. Includes residences, offices, schools, hotels, hospitals, and government projects. Mostly Tampa and Central Florida, but also Georgia and California among other locations. Also includes models for four projects.

Robin Z. Parker Collection, circa 1960-2009

Architectural drawings for projects designed by Robin Z. Parker and Alfred Browning Parker, mostly in Miami and South Florida. Some of the projects were designed solely by Robin Parker.

Robert W. Richardson Drawings, 1959-1985

Architectural drawings for various projects designed by Robert W. Richardson from 1959 to 1985. In addition to several residential projects, the collection includes drawings for various projects at the Breakers Hotel.

Jonathan Seymour Papers, 1953-2013

Drawings and photographs for Johnathan Seymour’s landscape designs, primarily residential. Also included are some biographical and autobiographical materials, as well as clippings and notes on various projects.

Darrell F. Fleeger Papers, 1960-1998

Architectural drawings created by architect Darrell F. Fleeger dating from 1960 to 1998. Also included are papers, photos, and clippings relating to the Restoration of Jackson Memorial Hospital Administration Building (The Alamo) and an architectural model of a residence.

Rabbi Max Lipschitz Sermons, 1968-1986

Edited drafts of sermons written by South Florida Rabbi Max Lipschitz.
