The Lost Communities of Florida

Our Spring exhibit is now on display in the Smathers Library second floor gallery. Lost Communities of Florida looks back at some of the once thriving Florida communities that have now faded or disappeared. It examines the broad social, economic, and political trends, as well as natural disasters and new technologies that contributed to their rise and fall. It showcases materials from the P.K. Yonge Library of Florida History.

You can read more about the exhibit and the individual communities featured in it in the latest post on our SASC Blog.

Lost Communities of Florida is curated by Dr. Bridget Bihm-Manuel and Hank Young. It will be open to the public until April 8, 2022, and an online exhibition is forthcoming.
